It was a big weekend for Makaha Mangoes, who hosted its fourth annual Mangoes at the Moana on Saturday at the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki.

Chef Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar in New York will be part of the Girls Got Game! Sunday brunch, on Sept. 9 at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki.
Chef Ming Tsai will be participating in two events at this September's Hawai'i Food & Wine Festival. The first will be the opening night event, Enter the MODERN Dragon: Morimoto & Friends, held on Sept. 6 at The Modern Honolulu, where he'll be serving foie gras fried rice with tuna sashimi.
Nonstop Honolulu – Some 1,100 people converged on Hilton Hawaiian Village's Great Lawn Saturday for the final night of the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival. The event, Mauka to Makai, focused on the farm-to-table movement, emphasizing the use of fresh, locally grown ingredients.
One of the many perks of writing this blog has been that over the past few weeks, I've had the opportunity to talk with chefs who will be participating in this year's Hawai'i Food & Wine festival.
Just like last year, the 2012 chefs are diverse and talented. Leading up to the September event, I'll be introducing you to the chefs and giving you a peek at the dishes they'll be preparing and some insight on the ingredients they'll be using.

Anyone passing by Chef Mavro's last Friday would have been in for quite a surprise. The ladies from Naked Cow Dairy were there in the parking lot with their cow, Pickles, to help promote their new line of cheeses.
