Chef Hiroshi Fukui kicks off summer cooking series

You are here

If you can't wait until September to sample food made by chefs participating in this year's Hawai'i Food & Wine Festival, a series of four cooking demos featuring local chefs starts Saturday on the fourth floor of Macy's Ala Moana.

Chef Hiroshi Fukui of Hiroshi's Eurasian Tapas kicks off the summer series, which is a prelude to the Hawai'i Food & Wine Festival on Sept. 6-9. Chef Fukui will prepare sous vide opah and Hau'ula tomato "lomi" with Thai basil and white truffle oil.

Also participating at later dates in the summer series are chefs Roy Yamaguchi (Roy's Restaurants), Ed Kenney (Town and Downtown) and Mark Noguchi (He'eia Pier).

No reservations are required. Seating begins at 11:30 a.m. on a first come, first served basis. Admission is $5 with proceeds from the series benefiting the Hawai'i Food Bank and the Hawai'i Agricultural Foundation.

So come join us this weekend and mark your calendars for future cooking demos:

Aug. 4 - Roy Yamaguchi
August 18 - Ed Kenney
Sept. 1 - Mark Noguchi
